Our Story
Bartlett Pet Sitters & Dog Walkers is a licensed and insured pet care business owned and operated by Bob and Sheila Zachar since August 2006. We’ve been Bartlett residents since 1976, and lifetime owners and carers of pets. That’s Sheila pictured above with Princess, Sebastian and Lindsey, (all adopted from the Bartlett Animal Shelter).
We started this business because we love dogs (cats, too). Since we retired from “jobs” early (or so we thought), we decided we could use extra income (exercise too!); logically this was the ideal business for us. Actually, we are animal lovers first, and business folks second.
In 2005 we fostered over 25 dogs from the Bartlett shelter who were adopted into loving homes.
In 2006 we helped shelter employees and volunteers find homes for several more dogs and cats at various events around Bartlett.
We’re always trying to find good homes for homeless pets. Yes – we love cats, too! Although our web site might seem lopsided towards dogs, don’t think for a minute that we’re not also great at caring for CATS, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, and other domestic animals, as well as exotic birds. We can administer most common types of medication, including injections, when needed. The main thing you need to know is that we love animals, and we care for your pets (and property) as if they were our own! In the short time we’ve had this business, most customers have used us many times.
It’s especially rewarding to help a customer, who’s key we already have securely filed away, calls with an urgent need to go out of town on short notice, and we’re just a phone call away.
In July 2007 we purchased a 4 1/2 acre farm (ranch) on Old Brownsville Rd. in Bartlett, to have plenty of room for all our “rescued dogs” to run and play. Then we transformed our home and property into a wonderful place for a few dogs to stay with us for day care and overnight when owners go out of town. We are open 365 Days a year except for 4 short vacations, usually a Mon. – Fri., during times when its unlikely you’d be on vacation. We schedule these months in advance and post them on this web site. Want references? We can refer you to any of our customers, but of course don’t list them here due to privacy. If you call for references, we’ll give you all you need. However, feel free to call the Bartlett Animal Shelter and ask any employee or the manager about us. In fact, you might want to visit the shelter personally, and rescue or foster a deserving dog or cat to help keep your pet company when you’re not there!
People who know dogs also know that 2 are easier to care for than one. (They’re far easier to manage than kids!!!)
